Hello! In Section B, we will begin learning the vowels, or “sra”. The Khmer alphabet has 2 types of vowels: dependent vowels (the main type of vowel; these are attached to the consonant the sound follows), and independent vowels (which are drawn independently from other characters). Today we’ll learn the first five dependent vowels. Here they are. [ា This letter uses the "A” key.] [ិ This letter uses the "I" key.] [ី This letter uses the "W" key.] [ឹ This letter uses the "Shift" -> "I” key.] [ឺ This letter uses the "Shift" -> "W” key.] Note that the consonant ba (ប) has some special behavior: when you add vowel “ា” to consonant “ប”, it turns into “បា”. Check the message at the top of your home screen (the "lessons" page) if you have general questions or need help. Have a great lesson!
